Pomp and Circumstance during World War I

description

Summary

Sir Hamar and Lady Margery Greenwood arriving for the opening of the Ulster parliament...We have not had a photograph from the Hogan Wilson Collection for quite a while. We know the names of two of the people and I am looking forward to being acquainted with some of the others we see here. ..From today's contributions we learned a little more about the location (likely the northern side of Belfast City Hall ( Belfast_City_Hall ) ) and main subjects (the Viscount and Margery Greenwood ( Hamar_Greenwood,_1st_Viscount_Greenwood ) ). The formation of the Parliament of Northern Ireland was a major event towards the end of the war of independence, and Greenwood (then "Chief Secretary for Ireland") was a controversial but significant political figure at the time.......Photographer: W. D. Hogan..Collection: Hogan Wilson Collection ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Author/Home?author=Hogan-Wilson Collection ) ..Date: Wednesday, 22 June 1921...NLI Ref.: HOGW 185 ( vtls000280672 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
