Summary
Significance: Originally built as a depot for storage of powder and other armaments, during the 20th century Picatinny Arsenal became a leading facility for the research, development and production of munitions. Located on the south shore of Picatinny Lake, the 400 Area contains buildings used for a variety of purposes. The buildings photographed and documented were primarily used for the loading of propellant powder.
