Petition for Dower in Porter v. Porter, [Law papers].
Summary
Summary: Before William Porter's death, he sold 134 acres of land and one lot to Andrew Porter. Margaret Porter, William Porter's widow, had not released her right to dower in the property. Margaret Porter retained Lincoln and Herndon and sued Andrew Porter to obtain her dower. Andrew Porter claimed that Margaret Porter had released her dower because of several judgments that Andrew Porter had recovered against William Porter. The parties reached an agreement, and the court dismissed the case.
