The Paris World Exhibition of 1889, also known as the Exposition Universelle, was a world's fair held in Paris, France to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. The fair was held from May 6 to October 31, 1889 and was officially opened by French President Sadi Carnot. The fair was held in the Champs de Mars, and covered over 100 hectares (247 acres). It featured exhibits from around the world, including art, architecture, technology, and culture. One of the most iconic landmarks of the fair was the Eiffel Tower, which was built specifically for the fair and served as the entrance arch. It was visited by over 28 million people from around the world and was considered to be a great success. The fair also featured the debut of the first motion pictures and the first public display of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell. It was a celebration of the new technologies and innovations of the time and a showcase of the French culture, industry and art.

The Exposition Universelle of 1889 was a world's fair held in Paris, France, from 6 May to 31 October 1889.
