Old Croton Aqueduct, Jewels Brook Culvert, Spanning Station Road, Irvington, Westchester County, NY
Summary
Significance: The Old Croton Aqueduct is an outstanding example of 19th century civil engineering and was New York City's first municipal water project. In Irvington, the aqueduct not only had to cross Jewels Brook but also had to maintain grade through the valley and span a county road that could not be moved.
