North Bar Without Beverley c.1920s (archive ref DDX1075-1)
Summary
North Bar Without, Beverley circa.1920s .This photograph shows North Bar Without in the 1920s, almost traffic-free, apart from the one solitary car parked on the opposite side of the road. The police constable stood in the road, gazes intently at the car with one of its occupants inside..The car is parked outside St.John’s Roman Catholic church which is still there today and used for many services. The buildings next door were demolished in 1931, by the brewery, Darley and Co. and became what is now the front entrance for the Rose and Crown pub with its familiar Tudor appearance that we see today along with the pub’s beer garden. The former entrance was on York Road. .Note the road sign on the right of the photograph pointing to York, 28 miles. ...(Why not try searching our East Riding of Yorkshire Map ( ...erarchives/map ) for more historic images? .erarchives/map ( ...erarchives/map ) )..(Copyright) We're happy for you to share this digital image within the spirit of Creative Commons. .Please cite 'East Riding Archives ( http://www2.eastriding.gov.uk/leisure/archives-family-and-local-history/ ) ' when reusing. .Certain restrictions on high quality reproductions and commercial use of the original physical version apply.
