Summary

A very industrial premises in a seemingly dilapidated condition to end the week. Swiftbrook Upper sounds like it may be up in Ulster (to me)! Mr. Mason has presented some very different images to the world - can we establish where this one covers?..And so we learned that this is not Ulster, but Saggart in South County Dublin. The location was confirmed by several contributors, and corroberated by a reverse aerial view of the facility ( http://www.southdublinhistory.ie/resources/SwiftbrookMills.jpg ) . There are lots of resources available and linked on the mill history, but it seems that Swiftbrook Paper Mill was established in the 18th century (a mill race being constructed in the 1760s), and was a major employer in the area until it closed in the early 1970s. Much of the facility remained standing until recent years - when it was demolished and is now the site of new housing ( https://www.google.ie/maps/place/Saggart,+Co.+Dublin/@53.279039,-6.4502612,252m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x48677468821a43df:0xa00c7a9973229e0!8m2!3d53.2808397!4d-6.4431841?hl=en ) ......Photographer: Thomas H.
