Mrs. Mamie Eisenhower posing in her wedding dress, Eisenhower National Historic Site, 1916.
Summary
When Lieutenant Dwight Eisenhower began dating Mamie Geneva Doud, he faced plenty of competition. He eventually developed a strategy that quickly secured him the inside track in the race for her affection and in the process, won the hearts of his future in-laws. When Mamie was out on a date with another suitor, Ike would drop by her house to visit with her parents. Upon arriving home, with her date in-tow, Mamie would find the young lieutenant sitting on the veranda, shooting the breeze with her parents. Lt. Eisenhower wasn't only a military strategist but also used his strategic know-how to win a victory in romance.
