Summary

Military and civilian personnel and their families, living or working at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling volunteered and helped make the Christmas holiday season more joyful for nearly 300 youth in the District of Columbia’s Ward 8 at a Disadvantaged Youth Holiday Party, sponsored by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District Dec. 18. The JBAB volunteers helped serve food to the children; pass out gifts and help with the distribution of 80 bicycles donated to the Marine Corps Foundation’s Toys for Tots program for the neediest of the children. The JBAB-based U.S. Air Force Rock Band, Max Impact, kicked the event off with energetic holiday music that quickly had children on their feet and dancing. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at the event by police helicopter, where they were met by Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. D.C. Mayor, Vincent Gray stopped by to visit with the children and wish them a Merry Christmas.
