Melina Tye, from the National Guard Bureau Installations
Summary
Melina Tye, from the National Guard Bureau Installations and Environment directorate pauses for a photo, May 9, 2018, while searching for threatened Massasauga rattlesnakes with representatives from the Michigan National Guard Environmental Division and other herpetology conservation groups at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center. The small, timid members of the rattler family were recently listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Massasaugas found at CGJMTC will be marked and tracked to learn more about their characteristics and to protect them from harm during military training exercises on Camp Grayling's 147,000 acres.
