Summary
Significance: The McNamara House Museum is a 1-1/2 story frame building built in 1876 for William John McNamara, his wife Mary Ann Buckley McNamara and daughters Mary Ellen, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Catherine. Mr. McNamara was a Irish immigrant to America and a prosperous dealer in hoes, cotton, and wool. He purchased the lots on which the house stands in March, 1876, and hired local contractor Theodore Neitsch to construct the house. The structure is essentially vernacular in for and plan, a symmetrical main section has four rooms believed to have been, sitting room, and two bedrooms grouped around a central hall in a traditional manner...
