Red curves are marked 6, 12, 18, and 24 feet to show depths at mean low water. The area always covered with water is blue, the surface between high and low water marks is indicated by wavy lines and colored with bistre. Shows drainage, vegetation, cultivated areas, roads, and houses. The forts are circumscribed by 9-inch circles, which show the range of their guns, with the exception of Fort Sumter, where the range is different and is indicated by three radii.
