Fort Worth, Texas (Sep. 01, 2005) Local Fire and Rescue personnel, Veterans Affairs and other medical services from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, register and classify injured, ill and displaced residents of the New Orleans and surrounding areas, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, on board Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth. The triage setting is to stabilize and orient the victims until they can be sent to local emergency and medical centers. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
