description

Summary

Joseph Sturge writes to William Lloyd Garrison saying that before Garrison leaves England he wanted to write him about a conversation they had at the home of his brother, Edmund Sturge. Sturge says that while he cannot remember any remark, "the substance of which was not fully justified by the tenor" of Garrison, he still "sincerely regret[s]" that he "spoke with so much warmth."
