Letter from Benjamin C. Bacon, Boston, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Sept. 6. 1834

description

Summary

Benjamin C. Bacon writes to Amos A. Phelps about the annual meeting of the "Young Men’s Society" where new officers of the organization were chosen. He also informs Phelps about the New England Anti-Slavery Society’s upcoming meeting in September, and gives a list of speakers for the occasion. He then discusses distribution of the “Maryland Scheme” ([a circular against the claims of the Maryland State Colonization Society]). Finally, he says the executive Committee of the American Anti-Slavery Society acceded to Phelps’s “plan of cooperation” with an additional provision proposed, and that the Board of Managers of the New England Society acceded to this provision.
