Summary

Русский: Без революционной теории не может быть революционного движения

Vladimir Lenin (1870–1924) was a founder of the Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), inspirer and leader of the Bolshevik Revolution (1917), and the architect, builder, and first head (1917–24) of the Soviet state. He was the founder of the organization known as Comintern (Communist International) and the posthumous source of “Leninism,” the doctrine codified and conjoined with Karl Marx’s works by Lenin’s successors to form Marxism-Leninism, which became the Communist worldview.

Gustav Klutsis (1895-1938) was a Latvian artist and graphic designer in the early 20th century. A leading figure in the Constructivist movement, he is best known for his work in photomontage, which he used to create political posters and propaganda for the Soviet Union. Klutsis studied art in Riga, Latvia, and later in Moscow, where he became involved in the avant-garde art scene. He was a member of the Communist Party and his art reflected his political beliefs. He worked closely with other artists and designers to create posters and other visual materials that promoted the ideals of the Soviet state. Klutsis's work often featured bold typography, geometric shapes and photomontage techniques. He used these elements to create powerful images that conveyed political messages in a clear and direct way. His posters were widely distributed throughout the Soviet Union and became iconic symbols of the era. Despite his success as an artist, Klutsis fell out of favour with the Soviet authorities in the late 1930s. He was arrested in 1938 and executed shortly afterwards. His work was largely forgotten until the 1960s, when it was rediscovered by a new generation of artists and designers. Today, Klutsis is considered one of the most important figures in the history of graphic design, and his work continues to inspire artists around the world.
