Jean Harlow, born Harlean Harlow Carpenter on 3 March 1911, was an American film actress and the original "blonde bombshell" of Hollywood's Golden Age. She achieved fame and success in the 1930s, but died tragically young. Harlow began her acting career in the early 1930s and broke through with a series of successful films, including Hell's Angels (1930), directed by Howard Hughes. She then signed a contract with MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) and starred in a number of popular films, often opposite leading men of the time such as Clark Gable. Some of Jean Harlow's notable films include "Dinner at Eight" (1933), "Bombshell" (1933), "The Girl from Missouri" (1934) and "China Seas" (1935). She was known for her glamorous and seductive screen persona as well as her comedic talent. Tragically, Jean Harlow's career and life were cut short when she died on 7 June 1937 at the age of 26. The official cause of death was listed as uremic poisoning, a complication of kidney failure. Her untimely death shocked the industry and her fans.
