Italian army paratroopers from Folgore Brigade’s 8th Parachute Assault Engineer Regiment, joined by thier US Army allies from the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade conduct sustained airborne training in Aviano, Italy, Jan. 14 to begin their Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise, referred to as EDRE. EDRE is a no notice, rapid deployment exercise designed to test the brigade's ability to alert, marshal and deploy, while serving as the US Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe.
