Hendrick Terbrugghen (1588–1629) is one of the best masters of northern caravagism. He is often compared with Baburen and Honthorst, paying tribute to the stubbornness of the master in continuing the classical Italian painting school of the early Baroque era, while simultaneously combining a certain amount of mannerism and his taste in the plots of the paintings.
