Hammer-Taylor House, 3309 Bristol Highway, Johnson City, Washington County, TN
Summary
Significance: A double-house with end chimneys, this building is significant as an unusual example of hybrid construction that incorporates a log section (c.1806) with a later, brick addition (c.1844). Because each section retains the mode of construction and interior styling of its period, the house reflects the evolution of construction methods and architectural styles in the vernacular, residential architecture of Eastern Tennessee during the early 19th century.
