Haile Plantation House, 8500 Southwest Archer Road (State Route 24), Gainesville, Alachua County, FL
Summary
Significance: The Haile Plantation House, originally known as Kanapaha, is one of the few examples of mid-19th century plantation houses in north central Florida. Owned continuously by the Haile family since its construction, the building stands essentially unaltered; plumbing and electricity were never introduced into the structure. The family moved out around the turn of the century and the house became a family retreat, hunting lodge, and party house.
