Gateway national recreation area - Groundsel Tree

Groundsel Tree (Baccharis halimifolia) Also known as high tide bush, this shrub grows just above the high tide edge of coastal marshes. It flowers in late summer/early fall and its dense foliage and flowers provide good cover and nectar for migrating Monarchs and other insects.
