Clarence Sinclair Bull (22 May 1895 - 8 June 1979) was an American photographer who worked for MGM Studios during the Golden Age of Hollywood. He was known for his iconic portraits of film stars such as Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Joan Crawford and many others. Bull began his career as a photographer in the United States Navy during World War I. After the war, he worked as a commercial photographer in New York City before moving to Hollywood in 1920. He joined MGM Studios in 1925 and became head of the studio's stills department in 1930. Bull's photographs were known for their dramatic lighting and attention to detail. He often used heavy shadows and contrast to create a sense of depth and mood in his images. In particular, his portraits of Garbo are considered some of the most iconic images of the actress ever taken. Bull retired from MGM in 1960, but continued to work as a photographer until his death in 1979. His photographs are now considered important pieces of Hollywood history and are highly sought after by collectors.
