Gold hair plaque or pu-yao (步搖, a type of Chinese women's hair ornament. The jewelry dangles when the wearer walks, hence the name, which literally means "shake as you go") of the period of Six Dynasties (220-589). Height: 20 cm, Width: 14 cm.
中文(臺灣): 鹿角牛首金冠飾,或稱「牛頭鹿角金步搖髮飾」,範鑄成型,頭部輪廓似牛,上嵌綠松石和褐、黃色料石,並銲以金珠裝飾;角部呈鹿角樹枝分叉狀,主根衍生二支根,再向上分出四支根,每枝梢上各掛桃形金葉片;鹿角以及雙耳綴飾的桃形金葉片,組成一株枝葉茂盛的花樹,造型十分別緻奇特。1981年,內蒙古烏蘭查布盟達茂旗,西河子北朝墓葬出土過類似的牛頭鹿角金冠飾,現歸內蒙古自治區博物館收藏。此種動物造型的金步搖,為具有異國風情的北方鮮卑貴族女子髮飾,淵源自漢朝皇后鳳簪步搖,據《後漢書•輿服志》記載,漢朝鳳簪步搖以黃金做主幹,加白珠、六瑞獸(熊、虎、赤羆、天祿、避邪、野牛),及翡翠、金鏈、珍珠盛飾,隨著腳步挪動,發出珠玉磬擊聲,搖曳婀娜多姿,參考東晉顧愷之所繪《女史箴圖》,得知古代步搖的佩戴方式。
