AASAM is an annual, international combat-marksmanship competition hosted by the Australian Army, May 6 to 22. The Marines won this match, while the British placed second, and the Singaporeans placed third. The match tests the snipers in observation, recording, and engagement of opportunity targets within a given arc. During the match, the sniper and the spotter observe and shoot targets at various distances, while looking for hidden objects in the scenery. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Marcin Platek/Released)
