Foundation of the American Government by Henry Hintermeister

Foundation of the American Government by John Henry Hintermeister.[1] Published by the Osborne company, Newark, N.J. From the painting's copyright description: "Signing of the Constitution. At desk sits Washington watching Gouverneur Morris sign; behind Morris are Roger Sherman, Franklin, Robert Morris, Madison and others, and at right Hamilton and Randolf." Another copyright registration caption for the Osborne print: "Foundation of American government. Committee signing the Constitution, with Washington presiding and Gov. Morris signing papers."

The vintage illustrations of Henry Gintermeister (1897–1972) will leave no one indifferent: these are works of the very genre and style that so fully capture the spirit of America in the first half of the 20th century. Together with his father, Henry created more than 1,000 illustrations, most of them situational, i.e. pictures - stories. Their work has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries, and connoisseurs around the world admire the authors' skill.
