Filter remains from the Tactical Water Purification System are discarded in the ocean, Jan. 3. Marines with the Engineer Detachment, Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, have set up their TWPS in the hangar bay of the USS Peleliu to keep their skills sharp and assist the USS Peleliu by providing 22,000 gallons per day. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
