Arthur Henri Poole - February 11, 1932
Summary
Not a very picturesque view, but instead Poster Heaven and a great example of NLI collections colliding!..This is Manor Street school in Waterford photographed on the day after a fire. Next door is the Cumann na nGaedheal Committee Rooms, and hence there's a great array of 1932 election posters on the wall, some of which we have in our Ephemera Collections...To get up close and personal with the posters, have a look at them on our other Flickr photostream: We Have Peace ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/yournlireland/5721709317/ ) ; The Roll of Dishonour ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/yournlireland/6856080817/ ) ; A "Hot" Record ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/yournlireland/6856181873/ ) ; Shadow of the Gunman ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/yournlireland/5993698317/ ) ...Incidentally, there's mention of Dr. Vincent White on posters advertising Cumann na nGaedheal election meetings at Ballytruckle and Alphonsus Road. Dr White was the husband of Mrs E. White who ordered this photo from Saturday, 2 February 1924 ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/6805869735/ ) ...Oh, and this photo was commissioned by Charles S. Quinlan, who was a Waterford solicitor, perhaps acting on behalf of the Christian Brothers...Date: Thursday, 11 February 1932..NLI Ref.: P_WP_3889 ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/P_WP_3889 )
