description

Summary

2016 Charles E. Peterson Prize, Entry
Significance: The Dr. William B. Wiener Jr. house was designed in 1950 by half-brother Shreveport architects Samuel G. Wiener and William B. Wiener Sr. Of the two brothers, all planning evidence suggests that William B. Wiener Sr. was the principal designer. The Wiener brothers enjoyed independent architectural practices though collaborated on some projects primarily for friends and family as was the case for this house. The Wiener brothers were two of the earliest and most prolific non-immigrant modern architects practicing in the South and indeed the entire United States.
