Summary

Birds-eye view print shows view of the battlefield near Barcan (Parkany, now Štúrovo, Slovakia) across the River Danube from Strigonia (Esztergom, Hungary) in August 1664. Imperial forces under field marshal Count Jean-Louis Raduit de Souches seized the bridge across the Danube. Includes views of troop formations, the walled city of Esztergom in the background, the bridge and the smaller city and castle of Barcan in the foreground, hills and the Hron River in the distance. In the right foreground are figures on horseback on a cliff overlooking the battlefield. Elements in print are labeled A-O and are identified in descriptive key in the lower left hand corner of the print.
