It was impossible to securea specimen of uiine for examination. A drop of blood was examined and showed adecreased number of red blood-corpuscles and a marked leucoeytosis. The diagnosismade was sporadic cretinism. The circulation was poor and there was a slightcedema constantly present. The feet and hands were frequently cyanotic, and alwaysfelt cold. The anterior fontanel was widely open. Growth was stunted as thelength of the body was only 55 centimeters. The naked weight when 1 Va years oldwas II pounds 13 ounces. WTien first seen by me there was neither muscular norbony development which could be considered normal. At eighteen months the childhad had no teeth. At twenty-two months the first tooth appeared.
