Summary
Details of decoration of the 'Zeven Provincien'
The left hand section of the drawing depicts part of the starboard quarter-gallery of the 'Zeven Provincien' (built 1665) – a lion surmounting crossed anchors of the arms of the Admiralty of the Maas between two slingerlijsts (the mouldings across the stern of a Dutch ship below the tafferel and above the upper counter). On the right is a drawing, perhaps of arms and trophies referred to by the inscription beneath Tusse d Tarme krijs wapens int hangt / als fistonne (? Between the female figures, trophies hanging festooned. The drawing is also inscribed in the upper left corner 'd 7 provensie'.
