This is the Signal Cabin at Athlone West, Co. Westmeath...No name for the gentleman unfortunately, but as he has his CIÉ (Coras Iompair Éireann) jacket on, he's definitely a railway employee...This photo was taken at 3 minutes to 3 on a sunny afternoon, and also shows the new electric diagram for line switching, approaching trains, etc. (clunky looking box above the signal levers)...Oh, and this chap was obviously too busy posing for James O'Dea - he'd forgotten to change the calendar from November to December.....Date: 1 December 1963..NLI Ref.: ODEA 37/85 ( vtls000306661 )
