Dado (France), 1815–25 (CH 18424861)

Empire style dado fragment. On light, bright green ground, horizontal rectangle outlined and shaded in green and white to simulate raised panel, corners filled with symmetrical acanthus, flowers and berries in yellow and gold-color around diamond with center of gold and yellow foliage with four white flowers. To left of rectangle, pair of fluted white columns with gold and yellow bases and capitals with cross-hatching. Illusionistically behend and between columns gold and gray wreath.
