The wliole singeing room should be well ventilated, and it isadvisable to furnish eacli machine with a separate hood and forceddraught. Any excess of nap remaining after the bleacliing must be re-moved by shearing, since singeing can never be done successfullyafter bleacliing, owing to the more or less seorelied or brown colorit imparts to the cloth. 62 TEXTILE CHEMISTRY AND DYEING. 53 The extent to Avhicli the shearing is carried out and theperiod of the operation at which it is performed, depends upon thenature of the cloth and the uses to which it is to be put.
