SEATTLE (May. 27, 2010) Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Harold Dayse, left, from Beaumont, Texas, and Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Francine Henry, from Miami, cook live on the set of the King 5 TV Show, New Day Northwest, with talk show host Margaret Larson. Dayse and Henry are stationed aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and were invited to cook on the show in honor of Memorial Day. In February, Stennis won the 2010 Navy Capt. Edward F. Ney Memorial Award for food service excellence among U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. In the United States Navy, these consist of ships commissioned with hull classification symbols CV (aircraft carrier), CVA (attack aircraft carrier), CVB (large aircraft carrier), CVL (light aircraft carrier), CVN (aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion) and CVAN (attack aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion). The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
