Atlantic Ocean (Sep. 01, 2005) Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Glynnell Simms of Grand Rapids, Mich., stages Meals Ready-to-Eat (MREs) to be brought aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) as part of the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Truman will bring command center and additional afloat staging base capabilities to the humanitarian effort. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
