Terletak di Aceh Besar, salah satu dari tiga kabupaten yang paling parah mengalami kerusakan dalam bencana tsunami Desember 2004, Jantang kehilangan lebih dari 50 persen populasinya oleh tsunami tersebut. USAID membantu mereka menanam hasil bumi di 12 hektar tanah. Saat musim panen tiba bulan September, panen menghasilkan keuntungan $9.650 (sekitar Rp 90 juta saat itu). Penduduk menginvestasikan uang tersebut, membiayai pengusaha kecil lokal dan membeli lebih banyak bibit dan kandang ayam.
English: Jantang is a small coastal village nestled in the foothills of Lhoong, Indonesia. Located in Aceh Besar, one of three districts hit hardest by the December 2004 tsunami, Jantang lost over 50 percent of its population to surging tidal waters. USAID helped them sow cash crops in 12 hectares of land. When harvest time came in September, the crops brought in $9,650 in profit. The villagers reinvested the money, financing small local businesses and buying in more seed and chicken coops.
