Corporal Brandy Bates, a member of Female Engagement Team 8, and a native of Ann Arbor, Mich., plays with a group of children on the sidelines of a soccer match played by Marines, interpreters and Afghan National Security Forces after a recent children’s shura hosted aboard Forward Operating Base Jackson, Sangin district, Helmand province. Children’s shuras are hosted on FOB Jackson every Friday and are coordinated by FET-8, working alongside Afghan National Security Forces during the shuras.
