Summary

Significance: The Congregational Mission building was build at Fort Berthold in 1876 and designed by architect Charles Lemon Hall. Hall was among the many missionaries that came to the Great Plains region to teach Christian theology to the Native Americans. It was built following President Grant's "Peace Policy," which gave Christian churches responsibility for forming reservations. Such reservations also provided services to white settlers to the region.
