England, talk on the bridge of the new Coast Guard cutter Sequoia (WLB 215) while awaiting the start of the commissioning ceremony for the ship. Mrs. Dorothy England, wife of SECNAV, is the ship's sponsor and the couple came to Guam for the commissioning. Sequoia is the 15th of the Coast Guard's new Juniper-class sea-going buoy tenders. Capable of performing Aids to Navigation, Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, National Defense and Marine Environmental protection, the Sequoia made a 15,000-nautical mile voyage from its launching in Lake Michigan to its permanent home port of Apra Harbor in the U.S. territory of Guam.
