Col. Thomas A. Pecina, a Lubbock, Texas, native, offers words of encouragement and gratitude June 30 at the Camp Foster Community Center during a ceremony marking the beginning of his two-year term as commanding officer of Headquarters and Support Battalion. Pecina is picking up the proverbial torch from Col. Katherine J. Estes, a Marceline, Missouri, native. The battalion is part of Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler.
