LIBI_00019_01976, A field officer's dress, worn by Custer when he was lt. Col. Of 7th cav. Made of navy blue broadcloth. Double row of 18 brass buttons, with spread eagle, c for cavalry in shield. Three strips of gold braid, 4 1/2" x 1 1/4", on each cuff. 6 buttons on each cuff. 4 buttons on coat tails. Darned under both arm pits; lining torn from one skirt. The bullion epaulettes displayed on this coat belong to earlier, civil war period full dress uniform. This coat should be shown with lt. Col. Shoulder knots. 1 brass button missing from front row.
