MIDDLE EAST (May. 17, 2009) Cmdr. Mark Light and Ensign Jermaine Jemmott speak with Bahraini military officials during a reception aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) during an historic port visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Dwight D. Eisenhower is the first Nimitz-class aircraft carrier to dock at the newly-completed Khalifa bin Salman Port. The Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility as part of a scheduled deployment supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom as well as maritime security operations. The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
