Both assigned to Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Six (NEPMU-6), they are spraying pesticides to kill flying insects known to spread disease. NEPMU-6 is based out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and is augmented by environmental and preventive medicine personnel from other units across the U.S. NEPMU-6 is currently operating in Banda Aceh on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and is conducting daily operations to assess health concerns including water, soil studies, disease and vector control in displaced personnel camps.
