Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Broad Run Aqueduct, 31.9 miles above tidewater, Martinsburg, Montgomery County, MD
Summary
Significance: The present aqueduct over Broad Run Creek is the only aqueduct with a wooden flume still in existence along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The existing structure was built during the winter months of 1856-7 by the canal company; it replaced an earlier temporary flume.
