Designed by Pedro Cremona and built in 1927, the Neo-classical building served as the headquarters for the Socialist Party of Argentina from 1927 until, in 1953, it was ransacked by a Peronist mob. A dispute between the two main factions of the Socialist Party (Democratic and Argentine) precluded the building's restoration, and it was demolished in 1974.
