Belle Grove, State Route 727, Middletown, Frederick County, Virginia
Summary
Significance: Belle Grove is a distinguished example of a late 18th century Virginia manor house, with the added interest of Jefferson's influence. His advice was sought by the builder, and judging from the structure, which is quite Jeffersonian in spirit, the advice was followed. During the Civil War Battle of Cedar Creek, Belle Grove served as Union headquarters.
