description

Summary

Significance: Developed in the early part of the 20th Century, this three story brick commercial structure lies on the northeast corner of the Aurora Courthouse Square at the corner of 13th and M Streets. The fine brick detailing and use of multiple brick colors and textures set it apart as an example of quality masonry craftsmanship in the area. Its early use as a business college and Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA)/Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) had a great impact on the young adults in the community of Aurora. The building was owned by a prominent Aurora family, the Frank E. Edgerton family for over three decades. The building provided apartments within the central core of the city for over fifty years.
