Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) was an English actress and humanitarian. She was born on 4 May 1929 in Brussels, Belgium, and later became a naturalised British subject. Hepburn's childhood was marked by the effects of the Second World War, as she witnessed the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, which influenced her later humanitarian work. Before acting, she trained as a ballet dancer but switched to modelling because of health problems. She gained recognition for "Roman Holiday" (1953) and became a film icon with roles in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961), "Sabrina" (1954), "My Fair Lady" (1964) and "Charade" (1963). Known for her style and grace, Hepburn became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1988. She focused on raising awareness of children in need and travelled extensively to support UNICEF's work. Beyond acting, Hepburn's legacy includes her philanthropy and influence on fashion.
